Plant List
This list is outdated and will not change in the foreseeable future but it still contains many plants that we do stock, if you are looking for a specific species, please contact us and we will see what we can do - while you are here, why not take the opportunity to find out more of what we offer on our small, family-run nursery?
Welcome to our new bamboo list. Some plants have disappeared from our availability and others have appeared as either more suitable or simply because we like them and wanted to add to the collection here. We keep around 180 species and cultivars now in our own personal collection.
We can make recommendations for your situation. There is normally a bamboo for any circumstance and they will enhance any garden. Certain bamboo, although in regular demand by collectors, are renowned for being exceptionally difficult to propagate and get going. Ph.Harbin, Ph.Kawadana being prime examples. Other beautiful ornamentals will not take extreme temperatures so please ask our advice.
There are so many beautiful Bamboo plants so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to plant some in your garden or as part of a design or planting project. We also offer a planting service through our own Landscape Company AGM Landscapes here at The Rodings Plantery.
ACIDOSASA Gigantean
BAMBUSA Vulgaris 'Vittata' Same as above
BASHANIA Fargesia-although this is supposedly being reclassified as Semiarundinaria Fastuosa we are keeping these as separate species as the growth habit is so different-we shall wait and see what the Botanists have to say! In our opinion as plant growers and planters of landscape projects these are 2 entirely different plants for different circumstances. ‘Fastuosa’ being the excellent choice for screening and hedging! Our own Bashiania planted here has taken over a huge area.
BASHIANIA Quingchenengshanensis
BORINDA:
Please Note: Borindas are also listed as Fargesias. Again the Jury is out on some of these so please take it read that you may find these listed in other places under the family Fargesia but these will be the same Bamboo. Many companies now label all Borindas under Fargesia but we have left ours where there are for the time being.
